The Alberta Healthy Living Program (AHLP) is an integrated community-based chronic disease management program.
The program includes the following services:
Services may also include specialty services and services targeting diverse and vulnerable populations. Group sessions are available on various topics including heart health, weight management, label reading and healthy cooking.
Prenatal Nutrition Program providing Non-Judgemental Support and Information on Healthy Lifestyle Choices for Pregnant and Parenting Women.. SERVICES PROVIDED: - Support in decision making and information about a healthy pregnancy -Coupons for milk, eggs, Slow Cooker Class, Cooking Club Class and exercise incentives - Free vitamin and mineral supplements, library card, items for baby, nutrition advice from a dietitian - Information about agencies that offer support -Breastfeeding Information -Collective food preparation and/or purchasing -Pre/postnatal information/support - available to all South zone rural offices.

This comprehensive series is for anyone who has had a heart event or heart surgery, has high blood pressure, cholesterol and/or triglycerides, or who is at risk for developing heart disease. It is facilitated by a Health Educator and a Registered Dietitian. In this 4-part series, you will learn how to manage heart health, including:
• What is heart disease
• How and why managing medications, stress, and sleep can keep your heart healthy
• How to self-monitor symptoms and safely exercise
• What is heart healthy eating and how it can look for you
These classes are for Albertans over the age of 18.

Wellspring Cancer Support
Wellspring Alberta offers free programs without referral to help you live better with cancer.
Healthy eating plays a critical role in wellness, but sometimes cancer and its treatments can make it challenging to know what to eat. Nourish is an online, evidence-based program that dispels nutritional myths, provides the latest recommendations on cancer-related eating, and offers helpful tips for selecting and preparing the foods patients will feel better eating while undergoing treatment or living with a longer-term cancer prognosis.
Wellspring’s Nourish program covers a variety of nutritional topics through education and demonstration. Sessions include proven recipes and guidance from a professional dietitian with cancer experience.
Demonstration sessions are delivered in a kitchen by a Registered Dietitian, Nourish programs provide educational content, preparation demonstrations, sampling, and take-home program materials and recipes.

Save On Foods
Our team of Registered Dietitians will show you how to tackle food labels, how to make healthy food choices, and how to meet special dietary requirements.
We continue to offer virtual Nutrition tours for adult groups and school groups in all locations. We are pleased to be able to offer in-person Nutrition Tours at select stores.
Our Adult Nutrition Tours require a minimum of 7 participants and are offered for free to More Rewards card members. Tours are available for organized groups such as university and post-secondary classes, community health programs, newcomer and settlement programs, English-language programs, workplace wellness programs and other community groups.
Our kids and school group Nutrition Tours are also free of charge and are available for Kindergarten through Grade 12 school groups as well as organized youth clubs and sports groups. Kindly note the minimum age is Kindergarten (5 years old).
Please fill in and submit the Nutrition Tour request form here, including Province, City and Store. One of our Dietitians will be in touch to confirm your tour request and discuss the nutrition tour options available in your area.
SHOP SMART is a two-hour workshop that teaches you how to get the best dollar value out of a grocery store shop. This free 2-hour class focuses on learning how to Shop Smart to make your grocery shopping less stressful and more affordable. The class includes label reading, information about core nutrients and family meal planning, and wraps up with a grocery store tour for a hands-on demonstration on how to make a shopping trip budget-friendly.
Once participants have completed a Shop Smart session, they are eligible to attend Collective Kitchens programs.

The Wellness Kitchen in the Wellness Centre at South Health Campus (SHC) is a teaching kitchen that provides a broad range of food and nutrition education classes where community members, patients, families and staff can interact, participate, have fun and learn more about healthy food preparation, mindful eating and good nutrition.
